The Start of Something New
Vital bench research on skin function began in the 1980s and 1990s, which would lead to discoveries important not only to the Epionce line but other pharmaceutical products still on the market today. Epionce founder and CEO Dr. Carl Thornfeldt, led ground-breaking research on skin function and structure with teams in the San Francisco area while continuing to care for patients in the Northwest.
One “a-ha” moment came while on a mountain climbing excursion – a favorite pastime activity of Dr. Thornfeldt’s. “I do a lot of thinking while outdoors,” Dr. Thornfeldt explains. “One particular day, I found myself thinking about skin’s role in shielding the body from the outside world. Then it hit me – the skin barrier is actually a protective layer.” He continued to explain that conventional skin treatments tried to destroy the skin barrier to achieve results, but he concluded there had to be a better way without disrupting the protective barrier.
The result was a new paradigm of skin’s role and function. Striving to find formulations that were gentle but could address the root cause of skin aging led him to dive into more research on the use of botanical extracts in the treatment of skin conditions.
Setting the Standard in Medical Grade Skin Care
Dr. Thornfeldt’s goal was to create a clinical skin care line that his patients would love to use while getting great results for their skin concerns, all while not creating irritation for the patient. He commissioned a third-party research lab to conduct independent clinical studies. This included a ground-breaking clinical study on Renewal Facial Cream and Lytic Tx versus the Gold Standard anti-aging retinol product on the market. The result was a superior improvement in the visible appearance of skin aging – without irritation. Now with over 16 clinical studies on the final formulations, Epionce products continue to prove their efficacy.
Epionce is the original medical grade botanical skin care line, merging Dr. Thornfeldt’s years of scientific data and philosophy of targeting the root cause of skin aging using therapeutic formulas to be distributed in a medical office setting.
